SAPS Vacancies: Procedure for Job Application at SAPS
People who do not wish to become police officers but would like to work for the South African Police Service as civil servants can apply for vacancies.
Civilian staff members are appointed under the Civil Service Act 1994. They perform the following tasks:
New positions and SAPS vacancies in the South African Police Service are announced in the media. A job description in an advertisement shows how and where you could be employed. A job advertisement also provides the following information:
The requirements and key performance areas of the advertised post
The procedures that must be followed to apply for the position
The address to which applications should be shipped or delivered
The closing date for applications
Here are the steps to follow to apply for SAPS vacancies.
Step1: Go to SAPS Careers page
Step 2: Click on the secondary menu with the following sub-headings:
Senior management, Police Act, Police service Act, Police Trainee or Internship programme.
Step 3: Check the available positions on each of the categories.
Step 4: Open the PDF documents with the advertised posts.
Step 5: See if you qualify and send application to the addresses provided.
Remember to download the relevant application form as SAPS uses different forms for different job categories.
