Minimum Requirements:

  • BA or National Diploma in Media Management, Journalism, Public Relations or Communications
  • Driver’s license
  • Computer literacy
  • Media  experience on senior level

Core Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with local and national media, including print and electronic publications, radio and television
  • Prepare news releases, together with the necessary photographs for distribution to the media
  • Analyse media trends by studying media publication and media analysis reports
  • Formulate media strategies and implement changes in relation to clusters and departmental events and activities
  • Compile media reports on a monthly basis by consolidating weekly media analysis
  • Liaise with Senior Managers and advise all departments regarding media issues
  • Develop and maintain photograph library, database of news and media articles
  • Collate, compile and respond to media enquiries and community enquiries
  • Prepare press kits ,develop and maintain a media profile for the EMM
  • Scan all media (print and electronic) publications on a daily basis to advice Media Manager
  • Liaise with the Mayoral spokesperson in relation to policy and political issues
  • Initiate media projects and campaigns to profile the Metro’s employees, residents and all stakeholders
  • Take photographs to profile the Metro by going to Metro activities and identify newsworthy photos
