Position:Driver Operator: Vacuum and Chemical Toilets

Department:  Water and Sanitation
Division:Water Operations
Salary:R 109 536 – R 142 152 per annum (plus benefits)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 10 or equivalent NQF Level 2 qualification
  • Applicable driver’s license (Code 14)
  • Applicable operator training
  • Physical ability to perform all work as required
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in a similar environment

Core Responsibilities:


  • Ensure maximum efficiency of equipment, machinery and support equipment and direct technical support teams accordingly
  • Ensure that all plant, machinery and equipment are kept in good and working order at all times
  • Responsible for performing varied tasks related to machines and sophisticated equipment
  • Effectively operate all machinery or vehicles as required, according to set instructions and standards
  • Effectively operate light equipment, trucks and trailers to transport equipment to and from work sites
  • Maintain vacuum and chemical toilets and renew related utility services in designated areas
  • Observe safety regulations by wearing required safety clothing and equipment and using required safety devices
  • Perform work that includes standby and overtime, as and when required
  • Comply with the Occupational & Safety Act, Nr. 85, of 1993, and all related regulations
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, by-laws, regulations, policies and procedures
